About Me.
To share some of my background with you:
I am a Registered Social Worker with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
I am registered with the Ontario Association of Social Workers
I completed my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at the University of Waterloo and my Masters of Social Work (MSW) at York University
In the last 15+ years, I have been working with individuals and groups to help facilitate meaningful change in their lives:
Founded my private practice in 2015 where I see individuals privately as well as develop various workshops for the community and other therapists. I work with various models, in particular Internal Family Systems (IFS) where I am a Certified Internal Family Systems Therapist. IFS provides a framework for understanding ourselves in a deeper and more complex way which allows us to build a strong internal connection and sense of harmony
Worked in the hospital setting providing one-on-one therapy and facilitating groups in the following modalities: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness Meditation, Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC)
Engaged in community based work helping individuals meet their mental health goals and co-developed and facilitated Anger Management group
I am trained in multiple therapies however my primary goal is to facilitate opportunities for self-exploration that is safe, at your pace, permission based, and expansive in terms of the insight, awareness and strategies that you will embody. I also attend regular consultations which guides me through my practice and helps to ensure I am meeting my Social Work Code of Ethics. My private practice is an ever growing and evolving practice that holds my passion and creativity.
While not engaging in my psychotherapy practice, I love exploring the world with my husband and children through nature walks/hikes, bike rides in new places and being home bodies.
I offer a FREE 15 minute phone conversation for us to determine whether we are a good fit. You will most benefit from therapy if you feel comfortable and safe during our conversation.
